The first day of 450 EoD marked the (re-) unification of the star system under one nation and government, the “United Republic of ZungAlexia”. It also marked the first day of “Year 0” of the “Age of Unity” or “Unity Age”. Even as the new age begins, the old ages, the Era of Defiance & the restorned Age of Freeedom remained in use for 50 years as a transition for the star system. The new United Republic would grow and prosper over the next two centuries. It, and our people, would take advantage of the technology gained through the alien contact that occurred in 288 EoD; building space craft that allowed us to explore the stars. This page records the events of the first century of the “Unity Age”.

1 Ianuari – The Constitution of the United Republic of ZungAlexia officially comes into force. On Alexandrus and Zungzamia each of their new constitutions also come into force with Alexandrus becoming ZungAlexia IV and Zungzamia becoming ZungAlexia III. In this transistion year, the various governmental bodies and citizens throughout the star system prepare for and conduct the first elections under the new constitution.
In the ZungAlexian star system, to commemorate and honor the newly re-united star system, the tenth Union-class ship is commissioned as ARV ZungAlexia, bearing registry number ISV-110.
Congress passes and the President signs the “Home Sector Defense and Space Exploration Act”, establishing the Ministry of Exploration and Protection (MEP) led by a civilian Minister of Exploration and Protection who is subordinate to the President. Furthermore the act transforms the UFAR Starfleet into the URZA Starfleet and merges the planetary defense forces of ZungAlexia III & IV into the United Republic Home Sector Force or HSF. Under the act, Starfleet and the HSF become divisions of the Ministry with senior commanders of each division serving as advisors to the Minister and the President.
11 Ainlif – The first Presidential and Congressional election under the new constitution takes place. William Capillus of Alexandrus is elected to the Presidency of the new United Republic.

3 Ianuari – The four hundere fifty-five citizens elected throughout the star system to the House of Delegates, along with the one hundred ninety-five citizens appointed by the planetary legislative bodies in the system to the Senate, as members of the Congress of the United Republic assemble in “Constitution Hall” in Kah’in City for the first time to begin the business of the new government. Twelve days later William Capillus takes the oath of office to become the First President of the United Republic of ZungAlexia.
12 Penti – Legislation is passed and signed into law creating a new calendar system with the previous year as
“Year 0” of the Age of Unity or Unity Age. The new calendar system is designed to run concurrently with the current system for the next
49 years. By the end of Septim, the Sacred Order of Zel’Koni adopts the new calendar system.
Legislation is passed and signed into law creating a legislative capital district in the ancient city of Genth on ZungAlexia III for the Congress of the United Republic and an executive capital district in the city of Veronica on ZungAlexia IV for the President of the United Republic as described in the Constitution of the United Republic of ZungAlexia.

In accordance with the “Home Sector Defense and Space Exploration Act”, the new URZA MEP establishes a hull classification system for all space-faring craft under its authority. HSF spacecraft are classified under the hull registration codes of RDX or RDC; RDX for “Republic Defense Experiment” and RDC for “Republic Defense Craft”. United Republic Starfleet craft are similarly classified; RSX for “Republic Starfleet Experiment” and RSC for “Republic Starfleet Craft”. All space-faring craft under the authority of MEP are commissioned with the ship prefix URS for “United Republic Ship”. Starfleet registry numbers begin with 3-digit odd numbers while the Home Sector Force numbers will start at 200 with the first digit being even. Furthermore, MEP changes the registry of all former UFAR Starfleet interstellar spacecraft from ISV to RSC. [NOTE: See Appendix A for details]

1 Ianuari - At 0:00 hours (ZungAlexia IV Standard Time), the URZA Starfleet simultaneously retires the old Union Starfleet ‘Mission Date’ calendar system and initiates its’ new calendar system based on 1,000 ‘Astro Date’ per ZungAlexia IV calendar year to be used throughout the entire fleet.
1 Septi – URZA Starfleet establishes the classified “Midnight Alpha” command protocol following years of review of previous rules and procedures related to potential attempts overthrow of the civilian government.

Following 35 years of service, the ARV/URS Union (ISV/RSC-101) returns to ZungAlexia to undergo a refit to add the new
Quad-Lithium powered Warp 6 engine. The refit of the first ship of the Union-class is expected to take at least two years. As part of the refit
and due to the size of the engine, a secondary engineering hull will be built and attached to the Union.

Construction and in-dock systems testing of the Warp 6 engine refit of ARV/URS Union is completed in 15 months. The Union is launched to conduct a minimum six-month shakedown cruise.
15 UA/2791 AF-R/465 EoD
During the shakedown cruise of its Warp 6 engine refit, ARV/URS Union is declared deep-space worthy and warp capable upon reaching and maintaining Warp 5 with the new engine for a full 24 hours.
As the last Alexandrus-class ship ARV/URS Veronica (ISV/RSC-75) is decommissioned by the URZA Starfleet following 40 years of service. With the decommissioning of the Veronica, the Alexandrus-class is retired from service after 75 years, first with the Union and then the United Republic.

Trebri – URS Enterprise (RSC-107) travels to ZungAlexia for the first time to be upgraded with the new Warp 6 engine.
Tetri-Deci – At the ZungAlexia IV shipyards, Enterprise is upgraded with the Warp 6 engine and the required support systems.
Ainlif-Twalif – RSC-107 conducts a shakedown cruise with its Warp 6 engine, easily reaching Warp 5.4; setting a new UFAR velocity record.

Febri – URS Enterprise departs the ZungAlexia system and returns to Starbase 2. Later in the month the ship begins a two-year exploratory mission.

The ZungAlexia star system celebrates 25 years of unity.
A new-build Union-class vessel enters into URZA Starfleet service as URS Kanaris, named for the Federation ship that arrived in the ZungAlexia system 187 years ago. Bearing registry number RSC-301, the ship is the first of the Union-class’s Kanaris-subclass.

25 MAR – Jamie Caroline Lovell, future Federation starship captain, is born on Mars, the fourth planet of the Sol System.
Following in the footsteps of the government of ZungAlexia III, the General Assembly of the Republic of ZungAlexia IV passes legislation that is signed into law by the Chancellor of the Republic ending the Era of Defiance on the last day of the year 500 EoD; establishing the Age of Unity as the sole calendar on ZungAlexia IV.

Having spent the last fifty years establishing itself in other locations in the star system, the United Republic Home Sector Force begins its long quest to acquire more and newer space vessels to effectively patrol the home space sector.
31 Twalif – After 500 years, the Era of Defiance comes to an end on the last day of the year.

For the first time in its nearly 40 years of service, URS Enterprise (RSC-107) enters the ZungAlexia system, traveling to the Alexandrus Shipyards undergo upgrades to her systems.

The Union-class URS Enterprise is decommissioned after 60 years of sevice, first to the Union of Federal Alexandrian Republics then to the United Republic of ZungAlexia.

During the year in Earth orbit, the first three Constitution-class starships are commissioned into Federation Starfleet service. The second ship of this new class to be commissioned, bearing registry number NCC-1701, will have an illustrious 40-year service life to the Federation.

The United Republic Congress grants the Exploration & Protection Minister permission through legislation to order the construction of newer, slightly larger and slightly more powerful versions of the space patrol vessels currently in use by the HSF.
The second URZA ship to bear the name Enterprise is commissioned. The Union-class ship bears the registry number RSC-347 and is the first ship of the Enterprise-subclass.

USS Surya, the prototype Surya-class frigate starship, is commissioned into Federation service.

The United Republic ships Union and Enterprise return to the ZungAlexian system within minutes of each other and travel side-by-side to the homeworld to undergo major overhauls.

URS Enterprise returns to Starfleet service sooner than expected; completing a 6-month overhaul in just 3 months.
URS Union (RSC-321) takes longer to overhaul than expected due to fractures discovered throughout the skeletal frame. More than 45 percent of the framework is replaced and another 20 percent receives extensive repairs during the overhaul along with the replacement of the entire hull.
Development of a Warp 7 engine begins in the United Republic.
2 September – In orbit of Mars, the Federation commissions a Surya-class frigate starship bearing registry NCC-1854 into Starfleet service as USS Kanaris.

URS Union returns to Starfleet service having completed an extensive overhaul that rebuilds 60 percent of the ship.
83 UA (2265 CE)
URS Union is nearly destroyed when the ship accelerates beyond its design limits reaching a top velocity of Warp 5.47 for 12 seconds before the warp core is shutdown. Union decelerates abruptly to sub-light velocity, causing severe damage to the ship. For twenty days the ship’s crew works around the clock to repair as much of the vessel as possible. Once repairs are completed, the ship begins its long journey home.

URS Enterprise (RSC-347) returns from its recent mission of exploration to begin an 18 month refit.
The first Warp 7 test engine is brought online.
86 UA (2268 CE)
URS Union (RSC-321) returns to the ZungAlexian star system after a three year journey. Upon docking, the ship’s crew is granted immediate extended shore leave. In the weeks and months that follow the damage that occurred three years earlier is analyzed.
The Warp 7 test engine fails when its cooling system suffers a catastrophic failure.
The HSF launches the first of its Union class variant ships, bearing registry number RDX-200, beginning the vessel's shakedown in the outer regions of the ZungAlexia star system.
Federation Starfleet officer Jamie C. Lovell is promoted to Captain and placed in command of USS Kanaris.
87 UA
With the completion of its refit, URS Enterprise returns to service.
Upon the completion of the analysis of the ship’s damage, URZA Starfleet concludes that the damage is too severe to repair and the decision is made to decommission URS Union (RSC-321), once its replacement is ready.
The URZA Home Sector Force commissions its Union-class variant prototype as URS Defender.
A new Union-class ship bearing registry number RSC-341 is launched and begins its flight trails.
88 UA (2270 CE)
16 Trebri – Following 48 years of service; first to the Union of Federal Alexandrian Republics then to the United Republic of ZungAlexia, URS Union (RSC-321) is decommissioned. On the same day a new Union-class ship bearing registry number RSC-341 is commissioned URS Union, the third URZA Starfleet vessel to bear the name.
13 APR - In the Beta Quadrant, the Federation ship USS Kanaris is caught in a temporal rift created by the destruction of an enemy vessel. The rift causes the Kanaris to be thrown back in time 250 years and more than 10,700 light-years from its position in neutral space. After a thorough and lengthy search and investigation by UFP’s Starfleet, the vessel is declared “LOST —PRESUMED DESTROYED” five months later.
01 JUN – In the Alpha Quadrant’s Sol system at Utopia Planitia Shipyards, Mars, the Federation commissions a Constitution-class starship as USS Buran, bearing registry NCC-1785, into Starfleet service.
The 250th Anniversary of the arrival of the USS Kanaris is commemorated in the United Republic. As part of the commemorations, URS Union (RSC-341) departs the home system to begin a three year mission of exploration.
90 UA
{DATE} – URS Kanaris (RSC-301) is decommissioned after 65 years of service. On the same day, a new Union-class, Kanaris-subclass ship, bearing registry number RSC-351, is commissioned as the second ship to bear the name Kanaris.
The second Warp 7 test engine comes online.
18 Septi – Following the loss of daily routine communication with URS Enterprise (RSC-347), URZA Starfleet orders a search for the vessel. Following more than three months of searching by URS Kanaris (RSC-351) and other URZA vessels no trace of the Enterprise is found. By the end of the year Enterprise is declared ‘lost with all hands’.

The first Federation Constitution-class starship to undergo a fleet-wide refit program completes its refit. Bearing registry number NCC-1701, this ship conducts a brief shakedown and returns to active service.
