Before the Age of Freedom (BAF), pt. 3

ZungAlexia's written history continues on this third page chronicling major events of the “Before the Age of Freedom” era occurring between 47 and 37 BAF (642-632 BCE).

47 BAF [199 AK] (642 BCE)

In the middle of the year, Alexandrus learns from his allies that torture and outright murder of Supremacy citizens has continued in Audracal and during their mission, some of his friends were captured, including a close friend of the governor. He informs Quartarius, who is angered by the situation.

3 Ocktubrium - The governor publicly reinstates Alexandrus’ military officer commission, promotes him to the rank of Lieuan Gelera and appoints him Deputy Military-Governor of the Kelona of Cardos. Quartarius then travels to Nivo to discuss the situation with Brutus Kindaron, the Audracalian governor.

The meeting between the two governors ends poorly and Zingius Quartarius formally leaves Nivo but sends word to Alexandrus that he and one of his guards are staying to investigate what is going on in Audracal. Antonius Kindaron, ruler of the Supremacy, is informed of the meeting between the governors and prepares to meet with Brutus in Nivo to discuss the situation.

46 BAF [200 AK]

The Kindaron Supremacy celebrates 200 years of existence.

After spending more than a year in Audracal gathering and sending information to Alexandrus in Omiris, Quartarius and his guard are discovered as they witness a group of citizens being executed in a country village. The Cardosian governor and his guard are captured and later brought before the governor, Brutus Kindaron, and the ruler of the Kindaron Supremacy, Antonius Kindaron; who was visiting his son. Directly in front of Quartarius, his guard is executed by Antonius Kindaron. Quartarius is tortured by Brutus under the watchful eye of his father. After this initial torture, Quartarius is imprisoned in Nivo.

45 BAF (640 BCE)

After being tortured and imprisoned for about six months, Quartarius is marched back to Omiris, escorted by the Kindaron father and son, their personal guards and half of the Nivo Garrison.

19 Tetribrium – Upon arrival in Omiris, Kindaron troops forcefully gather the citizens of Omiris in the city square to witness the execution of Governor Quartarius. They also witness the installation of their new governor, the nephew of Antonius Kindaron, Cassius Georgius Kindaron at the age of 70. The Kindaron father and son, their personal guard and most of the Nivo Garrison detachment depart, with some officers remaining to oversee the Omiris Garrison.

Despite the execution of Quartarius, Alexandrus remains the deputy governor however; his role in the government is severely limited. He orders the FJM to go further “underground” to avoid capture of any of its members as he protests many of Cassius’ orders and, at year’s end, is dismissed from his position.

44-41 BAF (639-636 BCE)

Conditions for the citizens of Cardos Kelona worsen as time passes. Initially, citizens are arrested without cause and unreasonable searches are conducted. Soldiers and officers loyal to the Supremacy beat and murder citizens in the open. To combat this ongoing tragedy; under Alexandrus’ leadership and that of his family’s, the FJM create and refine plans to overthrow the governor. Military friends and allies of Alexandrus that are retired or active-duty, willingly volunteer their allegiance to him and the FJM. Members of other FJM groups from outside Cardos Kelona come into the area and provide assistance in planning and acquiring supplies.

40 BAF

The final elements of the plan by the FJM to the overthrow the Supremacy’s military government in Cardos are put into place and the plan is named “Operation Nullify”.

19 Tetribrium – Five years after the execution of Quartarius, the FJM implements their operation formally known as “Operation Nullify”.

22 Tetribrium – Operation Nullify comes to an end, unfortunately 51 people are dead, 189 are injured and moderate property damage is sustained. Cassius G. Kindaron and his senior-most officers, mostly those from the Nivo Garrison, are captured, however, an officer and four soldiers escape from the garrison. Unbeknownst to the victors at the time, the operation's success marks the beginning of the “Zungzamian Revolution”. Word of the victory spreads quickly to other kelonas, particularly to those east and south of Cardos where the FJM has a large presence.

Inspired by the victory in Omiris, FJM groups in neighboring Kelonas, along with other anti-Supremacy citizens begin to rise up against the government. The uprisings are supported by portions of the military in varying degrees in all five Kelonas neighboring Cardos. They are met with extreme violence from the parts of the military that remain loyal to the Supremacy. Despite the efforts of loyal Supremacy troops to suppress the uprisings, in three of the neighboring kelonas the uprisings turn into outright, organized rebellions.

The escaped officer and soldiers reach Nivo and inform Brutus of the overthrow, which Brutus initially disbelieves but eventually sends specially-trained soldiers to investigate the matter upon learning of other rebellions occurring.

Alexandrus selects 15 members of the FJM from Cardos and other Kelonas, to form the FJM’s Developing Government Council or DGC. Initially, the council’s only task is to create a government framework, including a written, governing document, around the principles of the FJM.

6-20 Twalifium – The Governor's Trail: Cassius and his officers are given a fair, yet military, judicial proceeding. They are found guilty and are sentenced to exile from Omiris and Cardos Kelona. They are told that if they enter Cardos Kelona ever again they will be executed. The exiled are escorted to the border of neighboring Kelonas and sentence is carried out as the exiles cross the border. A pair of the specially-trained soldiers from the Nivo Garrison, who had infiltrated Cardos Kelona and witnessed the trial in Omiris, intercept and escort Cassius back to Nivo.

39 BAF (634 BCE)

Learning directly from his cousin of the overthrow, Brutus personally tortures and imprisons Cassius for his failure. He sends word to his father, Antonius, about the situation and requests permission to invade Cardos to restore the rule of the Supremacy. Without waiting, Brutus plans with his senior military officers the invasion of Cardos Kelona.

Two weeks prior to the execution of “Operation Restoration”, Brutus gets a response from his father in the form of four garrisons of troops from Citium Daro, the capital of the Supremacy, led by his uncle Gelera Georgius Paulus Kindaron. Along with the troops, Antonius issues written orders commanding his son to combine the Nivo garrison troops with those of his uncle and serve as second-in-command of the 24,750 troops. Gelera Kindaron and his nephew Brutus move then hold their troops at the Audracalian border town of Jeantai for 60 days to await the arrival of troops from other Kelonas.

5 Pentibrium – Antonius declares that Cardos Kelona and its’ five neighboring Kelonas are “in rebellion against the Supremacy”. To put down the “Omiris Rebellion”, Antonius orders all military-governors to send all available troops to Jeantai with in 60 days, circumventing Cardos if necessary, to be commanded by his brother Georgius and his son Brutus. In the intervening 60 days the number of troops under Gelera Kindaron’s command rises to 107,000.

In response to Antonius’ declaration and the threat posed by the Supremacy forces under the Gelera's command; Alexandrus & his military allies, the former Supremacy garrison in Omiris and large numbers of eager civilians create the Cardosian Militia. The militia makes preparations for the invasion of the Kelona.

10 Septimbrium – Sixty-five days after arriving in Jeantai, Gelera Kindaron's orders his troops to invade Cardos and march toward Omiris; beginning “Operation Restoration”. On route, they attempt to destroy any resistance encountered however, the Militia uses hit-and-run tactics pioneered by the Cardia Raiders 40 years earlier. The Militia is able to whittle down the number of troops in Gelera Kindaron’s army by a very small amount before they arrive at Omiris 17 days later.

1-5 Ocktubrium – First Battle of Omiris: Lasting for four days, the Militia initially inflicts heavy losses on the Supremacy army but is forced back behind the city walls of Omiris. The forces under General Kindaron’s command begin laying siege to Omiris. During the siege, messages are secretly sent to and received from other rebelling kelonas.

3-5 Novimbrium – Second Batle of Omiris: Following a month long seige, Supremacy forces break through the city’s walls at dawn and invade the city. However by mid-afternoon of the same day, militia units from Hitmilisium, a neighboring Kelona that is also rebelling against the Supremacy, arrive and attack Supremacy units inside and outside the city walls of Omiris. By dawn of the third day, the city is secure from Supremacy forces, which retreat to the outskirts of the neighboring town called Laco.

7-9 Novimbrium – Battle of Laco: The combined Cardosian and Hitmilisium Militias attack the Supremacy troops initially outside Laco but eventually inside the town, winning the battle with minimal casualties amongst them but heavy losses to the Supremacy.

Through the end of the year, militias from all of the rebelling Kelonas make great strides in pushing Supremacy troops out of the Kelonas.

10-16 Pentibrium – Battle of Panavisio: Supremacy forces and those of the rebellion clash in the Cardosian city of Panavisio exactly 50 years after the battle between the Supremacy and the Kingdom of Cardia in the same city. In this battle however, Georgius Paulus Kindaron, the Supremacy forces commander is killed during the battle and his second, Supremacy Military Governor of Audracal Brutus Kindaron is forced to withdraw; leading to a humiliating defeat.

The Kelonas of Cardos and Hitmilisium are the first to declare independence and alter their names to the Republic of Cardia and the People's State of Bivoria, respectfully.

Vincentius Brutus Kindaron is born in Citium Daro.

As the kelonas declare independence; their delegates to the Freedom and Justice Movement's Developing Government Council begin work on creating an alliance for mutual defense and other interests. Part of their work includes drafting a governing document for the allied states.
