ZungAlexia History | Alexandrian Resistance

Com-Bot War, pt. 1

For more than forty years, the Alexandrian Resistance is mostly cool until 1619 IA when the Imperium attempts an invasion of Alexandrus using robot soldiers known as com-bots beginning ‘The Com-Bot War’. The events of the war are told here and on subsquent pages.

1577-1618 IA [52-93 EoD] (1784-1825 CE)

The Zungzamia-Alexandrus Cold War: Virtually no official contact between the two planets occurs during the first 30 years of the Cold War. Both sides develop and build robots for combat purposes as a way to reduce the loss of manpower. These robots are eventually referred to as “com-bots”. On Zungzamia secret caverns once used by the Zel’Koni Order are converted for the manufacture and storage of com-bots. Also during this time the former Imperial colonies on Alexandrus independently establish their own local republican governments with these new governments pledging support to the RAA.

1582 IA [57 EoD] (1789 CE)

4-20 Trebrium – The Voragin (ZungAlexia V) Mine Incident: On Voragin, a mine explosion occurs killing 141 miners and trapping 564. Imperial Mine Safety Bureau (IMSB) officials that are on-site order the civilian company not to perform search & rescue and close the mine. Company officials and employees are stunned by the order. They openly disobey the order and attempt to search for and rescue their comrades however mining officials ordered their security forces to stop the rescue effort at all cost. As the security forces attempt to end the rescue operations, some of the miners pick up anything they can find and resist the security forces while other miners continue the rescue. As the security forces are overwhelmed by the uprising, ultimately resulting in the death of 14 of the 20 man force, the mining officials escape and head to the Imperial Army outpost on Voragin-A, the habitable natural satellite of Voragin.

25 Trebrium - The Imperial Mine Safety Bureau vows to investigate the mining accident on Zungzamia V.

3 Tetribrium – Army troops head to the site of the mine explosion and rescue effort on Voragin. The Army commander orders the miners to surrender who refuse. Upon the orders of his superiors, he and his troops slaughter the miners, those assisting with rescue efforts and those rescued. Of the 1,031 miners and company officials at the site, 16 escape and return to the company headquarters on Alexandrus.

8 Novimbrium – Following its’ investigation, the IMSB releases its' report stating that the mine explosion was an accident caused by the miners themselves and that during rescue efforts for some unknown reason the miners turned on their supervisors and the mining officials. Ultimately they turned on one another and killed each other; leading to the deaths of the miners trapped in the mine.

9 Novimbrium - Knowing that the official “report” is false, the mining company releases all of their information about what happened at the mine, including the Army’s actions against the survivors.

1583 IA [58 EoD]

With the truth of the mine explosion fully revealed and the government’s lies exposed; civilian companies, especially those founded and headquartered on Alexandrus, that secretly assisted the rebellion begin to openly assist the Resistance Alliance of Alexandrus. Employees of these companies, particularly the mining companies with operations on Voragin and in the asteroid belt between Voragin and Zungzamia VI, either peacefully or violently revolt against Imperial oppression. These revolts force the Imperial military to reallocate resources to combat them. Near the end of the year, the revolts are nearly defeated however militias are formed and train on Voragin and on the two dwarf planets in the asteroid belt with covert assistance from the RAA. With the formation of the militias, the multi-year Battle of Voragin and the “Belt Skirmishes” begin.

1604 IA [79 EoD] (1811 CE)

Imperator Zekhar Cassius dies at the age of 179 and after 100 years of Imperial rule. His son, Crown Prince Mikael is crowned and ascends the Imperial Throne as Alexander, the 21si Imperator of Zungzamia at the age of 151.

1608 IA [83 EoD] (1815 CE)

Despite the continuous build-up of Imperial com-bot forces, prominent Imperial Court members begin attempts to sway the Imperator toward peace.

1610 IA [85 EoD]

The militias of Voragin and the asteroid belt secure the planet and “The Belt” for the RAA following more than two and a half decades of intermittent fighting.

1613 IA [88 EoD] (1820 CE)

The Constitutional Convention of 88 EoD – select members of the RAA’s civilian government and delegates sent from each of the independent republics meet in K’Sos Novo and begin a constitutional convention on Alexandrus.

1615 IA [90 EoD]

Members of the Imperial court who had attempted to sway the Imperator toward peace, contact various members of the RAA civilian government to begin secret negotiations for peace between the two opponents. The negotiations begin late in the year and continue intermittently for the next three years.

1618 IA [93 EoD] (1825 CE)

Imperator Alexander learns of the illegal peace negotiations being conducted and some of the individuals involved. He has them located by Imperial Bureau of Intelligence and Security (IBIS) agents and imprisoned until they are all found.

7 Twalifium - The Imperator has the accused, imprisoned traitors brought before him. He personally interrogates them then uses the Imperial Sabre and his personal masabe to slaughter them in the Throne Room of the Granda Palee. As the bodies of the dead are removed, the Imperator orders his geleras to devise a battle plan against the Veronica Rebellion and the Zel'Koni Order.

1619 IA [94 EoD]

26 Febrium – Operation Obsidian Conquest: The Imperium uses its’ “com-bot” troops for the first time; breaking through Alexandrian orbital defenses and are able to board the former Imperial space base and two of the five shipyard orbital facilities however, RAA forces, which are also using “com-bot” for the first time, are able to repel the Imperials from the yard facilities and the space base easily. Lasting for several hours the space battle that takes place in orbit leads to the defeat of the Imperials and a return to a state of war between Zungzamia and Alexandrus. From this point on until the end of the Resistance, “com-bot” are used in every battle fought, beginning the “Com-Bot” phase of the Resistance or “The Com-Bot War” as some historians refer to it.

1625 IA [100 EoD] (1832 CE)

Despite renewed combat with the Imperium, the independent republics on Alexandrus and the RAA celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Declaration of Resistance and the Articles of Alliance.

1627 IA [102 EoD]

Five separate space fighter engagements occur in the orbital space of Zungzamia Prime’s natural satellite, Kah’in. During the fifth engagement, RAA military forces make their first unsuccessful attempt to land troops on Kah’in however they take control of one of the two space stations orbiting the moon.

1628 IA [103 EoD] (1835 CE)

18 Senabrium-26 Septimbrium – The RAA successfully gains control of the other three space stations orbiting Kah’in by mid-year; lands troops and secures a beachhead on Kah’in three weeks later.

1629 IA [104 EoD]

2 Trebrium – The Constitutional Convention in K’Sos Novo completes the final draft of the Constitution of the Union of Federal Alexandrian Republics and presents it to the RAA’s Legislative Council, which begins to debate on the draft the next day.

6 Trebrium – Following three days of debate on the draft, the RAA’s Legislative Council approves the document; sending copies of it to the legislatures of the independent republics on Alexandrus.

1631 IA [106 EoD]

The Armed Forces of the Resistance Alliance of Alexandrus secures Kah’in.

1636 IA [111 EoD] (1843 CE)

22 Pentibrium – First Battle for the Orbital Stations: Imperial space fighters engage RAA space fighters at the four space stations orbiting Zungzamia Prime. RAA fighters are able to draw Imperial fighters away from the Orbital Stations 1 and 2 which are boarded by RAA regular and com-bot troops. As OS 1 is about to be captured, its commander activates the base's self-destruct mechanism. Once ware of the countdown, RAA troops atempt to evacuate with one transport clearing the station however the destruct mechanism detonates; destroying the station, three docked RAA ships and kills 300 people and 2,500 com-bots on-board the station. Imperial troops on Orbital Station 2 are able to repulse the RAA troops boarding it and RAA troops near Orbital Stations 3 and 4 are unable to dock due to heavy space fighter protection. The surviving RAA troops and space fighters withdraw to Kah’in.

19 Twalifium – Second Battle for the Orbital Stations: RAA forces attack the three remaining Orbital Stations, successfully boarding them. The stations are captured by RAA forces and Zel’Koni Sentinels who disable the self-destruct mechanisms on the stations before the station commanders can utilize them.
