Following a ten year absence from Star Trek films, Jerry Goldsmith returned to compose the fifth film, Star Trek V: The Final Fronter released in theaters on 9 June 1989. During his absence, Mr. Goldsmith would compose the scores of nearly forty films, including Outland (1981), Poltergiest (1982), The Secret of NIMH (1982), (Rambo:) First Blood (1982), Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983), Gremlims (1984), King Solomon's Mines (1985), Hoosiers (1986), Extreme Prejudice (1987), and The 'burbs (1989). Mr. Goldsmith would also compose several TV themes, including the theme for Star Trek: The Next Generation in 1987.
