For the fourth installment of the Star Trek film franchise, Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home; released in theaters on 26 November 1986, a new composer was brought in. Leonard Rosenman's film composing career began in 1955 with the movie adaptation of John Steinbeck's book, East of Eden. Mr. Rosenman would go on to compose the scores for Rebel Without a Cause (1955), Bombers B-52 (1957), Hell is for Heroes (1962), A Man Called Horse (1970), Battle for the Planet of the Apes (1973), Bound for Glory (1976), and The Jazz Singer (1980). During his career, Mr. Rosenman would receive two Academy Awards and two Emmy Awards. He would pass away on 4 March 2008 at 83 years old.
