Music from

Celebrating 60 Years of Music
1966-2026

The theme to the original Star Trek series was composed and conducted by Alexander Courage in 1964 or 1965 and initially used in the first, unaired, pilot of the series and later on during the entire run of the series. At the time of the theme's composition, Mr. Courage was a well-known arranger and orchestrator. His contribution to this unique and “serious” science fiction television series is legendary despite his brief tenure with Star Trek's production staff. Eventhough his tenure with the series was short his association with the franchise would last beyond his lifetime as each time the music he composed for “The Original Series” was used by the later television series or in the motion pictures that have been produced since the theme was composed six decades ago.
