On 05 MAY 2022, a sequel/spin-off to Star Trek: Discovery premiered online through the streaming service, Paramount+, known as Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. The series followed the adventures of the Starship Enterprise under the command of Christopher Pike approximately 10 years before James T. Kirk would command the fabled Constitution-class vessel. The Main Title Theme for this new online series would be composed by Jeff Russo while music for the entire series has been composed by franchise newcomer, Nami Melumad. As of the end of 2025, Ms. Melumad has nearly 160 composer credits to her name, many of them being short films however she collaborated with Michael Giacchino, of STAR TREK (2009) fame, to compose the music for the Marvel movie; Thor: Love and Thunder (2022). Her work on Strange New Worlds and the animated series Star Trek: Prodigy makes her the first female composer in the franchise.
