   The Defender-class Sentinel was upgraded with a Warp 6 engine housed in a secondary hull attached to the primary hull by a connecting dorsal. Designated as an Heavy Escort, armed with 10 Phase cannons and six spatial torpedo launchers. Capable of reaching 0.5c at Impulse and Warp Factor 6. The Sentinel was initially a sub-class of the Defender-class but was elevated to its own class following the decommissioning of the original Defender-class prototype.
