2001: September 11 - The nation state of the United States of America is attacked by terrorists who use airplanes as their weapons. The attacks resulted in the destruction of the World Trade Center in New York City and damage to part of the US Defense Department building, known as the Pentagon.

2003: February 1 - America's Space Shuttle Columbia, OV-102, disintegrates while returning to Earth. Among the crew of seven astronauts was Ilan Ramon, an Air Force Colonel and the first citizen from the nation-state of Israel to reach space.

2026: Joe DiMaggio's hitting record is broken by Buck Bokai, a shortstop from the London Kings.
2032: October 19 - Mars probe Aries 4 disappears in Martian orbit, stranding two astronauts on the surface until a rescue vessel arrives from Earth.
2053: Earth is devastated by World War III.
2061: Zefram Cochrane invents faster-than-light travel
using subspace; a spatial continuum with significantly different properties from
normal
space. He also invents the first engine that is capable of
faster-than-light travel.
2063: Zefram Cochrane pilots the first space vehicle equipped with warp drive. The development of the faster-than-light drive is a crucial milestone in human history. A day after (5 April) Cochrane's first warp flight, a Vulcan spacecraft lands on Earth, establishing humankind's first official contact with an extraterrestrial intelligence.
2065: S.S. Valiant is lost near the edge of the galaxy.
2079: Earth continues to recover from the post atomic horror, a recovery spawned by Cochrane's flight.
