ship's crew on Ceti Alpha V, learns of Project Genesis from the ship's captain and first officer and uses those
officers in an attempt to steal the Project Genesis materials from its creators, Drs. Carol and David Marcus, at the
Regula 1 science station. Dr. Carol Marcus requests assistance from Admiral Kirk, who is aboard Enterprise
during an Acadamy training cruise. Kirk assumes command of the ship and heads to the science station. En route to the
station, Enterprise is attacked by Reliant under Khan's command. After taking heavy damage, Enterprise
is able to disable Reliant and flee to the station. At the science station, a landing party from Enterprise
discovers most of the Project Genesis science team dead but the Reliant's captain and first officer alive. The
landing party learn of a cave created by Project Genesis experiments under the surface of Regula I.
Once there, the landing party find some of the science team alive including Drs. Carol and David Marcus.
However, Khan is able to obtain the Genesis Device and other materials related to the project. Enterprise attempts
to flee into the Mutara Nebula and Reliant pursues the damaged ship. In the nebula Enterprise and Reliant
battle each other and Reliant is destroyed along with the entire Mutara Nebula when the Genesis Device is detonated
aboard the ship by Khan in his attempt to destroy the Enterprise. Spock dies from radiation poisoning after
successfully restarting the ship's warp drive, allowing the ship to escape destruction, but not before transferring his
katra (soul) to Dr. McCoy. Spock's remains are placed in a photon torpedo casing and launched into space. The torpedo gently
lands on the newly-formed Genesis Planet.

planet but are located and captured by a Klingon landing party. On Earth, it is discovered that Spock's katra resides in
McCoy's mind. Kirk asks for permission to go to Genesis to retrieve Spock's body but is refused. He and his senior officers
steal the Enterprise and head to Genesis. Upon arrival, Enterprise encounters the Bird-of-Prey and a brief
scuffle between the ships occurs, disabling both. Kruge, the Klingon commander, states he has prisoners on the surface and
orders the death of one of them. Attempting to protect Saavik and the reborn Spock; David Marcus, Kirk's son, is killed.
Kirk surrenders and Klingon troops board Enterprise however, Kirk and his crew activate the ship's auto-destruct
sequence and beam down to Genesis. Enterprise explodes in orbit, killing most of the Bird-of-Prey's crew; its'
remains tumble into and burn up in the atmosphere.
On the surface, Kirk and his crew locate Savvik, Spock's regenerated body, the body of David Marcus and
the Klingon guard who is shot by Kirk. Kruge returns to the surface, Kirk's crew is beamed up to the Bird-of-Prey while Kirk
and Kruge engage in hand-to-hand combat as the planet tears itself apart. Kirk kills Kruge, contacts the Bird-of-Prey and
beams up to the ship with Spock's body. Under Kirk's command, the Bird-of-Prey flees Genesis as it explodes and heads to
Vulcan to re-fuse Spock's katra with his body which is ultimately successful.

face judgement of the crimes they committed while saving Spock. En route, they learn that the transmissions of an orbiting
probe of unknown origin is causing enviromental havoc to Earth, particularly its' oceans. Spock determines that the probe's
transmissions could be answered by humpback whales which are extinct on 23rd Century Earth. To save Earth, Kirk
decides to travel back in time using the “sling-shot effect” and retrieve the despritely whales in the past.
With assistance from 20th Century cetacean biologist Dr. Gillian Taylor, Kirk and his crew are able to bring two
humback whales to the 23rd Century and release them in San Fransisco Bay. The whales communicate with the probe
and it departs Earth without further incident.
In the Federation Council chambers, the Federation President announces that all charges except one against
Kirk and his crew are dropped “due to mitigating circumstances”. The remaining charge of disobeying a superior
officer, Starfleet's Commander-in-Chief, specifically; is solely against Admiral Kirk. The President announces that the
Council's judgement against Kirk is that he is demoted to the rank of Captain and granted the opportunity to command a starship
again. Starfleet launches and commissions the second Federation starship to bear the name Enterprise. Bearing registry
number NCC-1701-A, the refit Constitution-class starship is placed under Kirk's command.

(ST5) — Sybok, an exiled Vulcan, gathers followers on Nimbus III; “The Planet of
Galactic Peace” by freeing their minds of guilt and fear as part of a larger plan to meet “God” on
“Sha Ka Ree”, a supposed planet located at the center of the galaxy. Sybok and his followers capture the only
settlement on the planet and three diplomats; a human, a Klingon, and a Romulan. The Federation responds by sending the
Enterprise-A without a full complement to Nimbus III. Upon arrival, Kirk, several of his senior officers, and a security
team travel by shuttle to the surface. Kirk and his team are captured following a brief skirmish on the surface. Sybok, along
with several of his followers, including the diplomats-turned-followers, and Kirk & his senior officers attempt to return
to the Enterprise but are initially prevented from doing so due to a Klingon Bird-of-Prey in the area. Kirk orders the
Enterprise and the shuttle's helmsman, Commander Hikaru Sulu, to perform an unorthodox emergency landing procedure, which
works but wrecks the shuttle in the bay. Enterprise escapes at Warp Speed just as the Klingon vessel fires a torpedo at
them. Kirk, Spock and McCoy are placed in the brig while the Enterprise's course is set for the center of the galaxy.
While in the brig Kirk and McCoy learn from Spock that Sybok is Spock's half-brother. Chief Engineer Captain Montgomery Scott
effects a “jailbreak” for the trio, who escape to the observation deck to use an emergency transmitter to request
assistance from Starfleet, however the message is intercepted by the Klingons.
The Enterprise arrives at and passes through the Great Barrier at the center of the galaxy and reaches
Sha Ka Ree. Sybok, Kirk, Spock, and McCoy travel to the planet's surface by shuttle. On the surface, the group meet “God”
and “God” insists on the use of the Enterprise to “spread his wisdom”. Kirk questions “God”'s
motives and is attacked for it. Spock is also attacked by the “God” entity when he attempts to back Kirk. Sybok
confronts the entity and the two have a physical confrontation. Kirk orders Enterprise to fire a torpedo directly on their
position, Kirk, Spock, and McCoy escape but Sybok is killed. The trio return to the shuttle but are unable to leave because the
entity has disable it. Kirk contacts Scott and Scott is able to beam up Spock and McCoy to the Enterprise but the ship is
attacked by the Klingons before Kirk can be beamed up. While Kirk is being pursued by the entity, Spock convinces the Klingon
diplomat to use his authority to get the Klingon ship to rescue Kirk. Kirk is rescued and the entity is destroyed by the Klingons.
Enterprise and the Klingon Bird-of-Prey eventually leave Sha Ka Ree and return to their respective territory.
2288
The Transwarp Development Project is deemed unsuccessful by Starfleet, but believes that Excelsior itself has potential and begins to refit the ship with standard warp drive.
2290
The refit of USS Excelsior is completed and the vessel is re-registered by Starfleet with the number NCC-2000. Commander Hikaru Sulu, helmsman of Starship Enterprise, is promoted to Captain and given command of Excelsior; begins a three-year mission of mapping gaseous anomolies in the Beta Quadrant of the galaxy.
2293
(ST6) — On its return journey home, Starship Excelsior is hit by a massive shockwave
created by the explosion of the Klingon moon Praxis. The moon was the Empire's key energy production facility and its' loss
cripples the Klingon economy and causes irreparable damage to the atmosphere of the Klingon homeworld. Starfleet Command sends
the Enterprise to escort the ship transporting Chancellor of the Klingon High Council and his staff to Earth for peace
negotiations. During the voyage however the Chancellor is assassinated and Kirk, along with Dr. McCoy, is arrested for the
assassination. The new Chancellor, the deceased Chancellor's daughter, negotiates with the Federation President for a new secret
and neutral location for peace talks. Kirk and McCoy are tried & convicted of the assassination and are sentenced to life in
prison on the penal asteroid of Rura Penthe. Kirk and McCoy escape from prison and are rescued by their ship. Kirk and his crew
determine that there is a conspiracy taking place to prevent peace and the conspirators include Starfleet and Klingon military
officers. They also learn that the new location of the peace talks is “Camp Khitomer, near the Romulan border”, from
Captain Sulu of the Excelsior and head there to prevent the possibility of another assassination.
Upon arriving in the Khitomer star system, Enterprise is intercepted and attacked by a Klingon Bird-of-Prey
that can fire its' weapons while cloaked. The one-sided battle results in heavy damage to the Enterprise as the Excelsior
arrives, which is also assaulted by the cloaked Klingon ship. Aboard Enterprise, Spock and McCoy modify a photon torpedo
to detect the ionized gas exhaust of the Klingon ship. Once launched, the torpedo homes in on and hits the Bird-of-Prey allowing
Excelsior and Enterprise fire torpedo barrages that destroys the Klingon ship and kills a number of the conspirators.
Kirk and his crew, along with Sulu and a contingent of his ship's security personnel, transport down to the surface and prevent
the assassinations of the Federation President & the new Klingon Chancellor and capture the remaining conspirators. The peace
negotiations continue and successfully establish the Khitomer Peace Accords between the United Federation of Planets and the
Klingon Empire.
Following its brief seven years of service to the Federation, Starship Enterprise-A returns to Earth
and is decommissioned by Starfleet as the ship's senior officers retire.
(ST7) — A modified Excelsior-class starship is commissioned into Federation service as the third ship to bear the name Enterprise. The vessel, registered as NCC-1701-B, is launched under the command of Captain John Harriman with Ensign Demora Sulu as helmsman and retired Starfleet offiers James T. Kirk, Montgomery Scott and Pavel Chekov onboard as honored guests for the maiden voyage. During the voyage the ship receives a distress signal and Harriman decides to help despite the ship not being fully manned or outfitted. Enterprise-B is able to save 47 refugees but is caught in the gravitational pull of an energy ribbon that the ship encounters. Captain Kirk personally reconfigures the Enterprise-B's navigational deflector to fire a antimatter discharge, freeing the ship. However, the section of the Enterprise's secondary hull that Captain Kirk is in is hit by the energy ribbon. There is no trace of him and it is reported that he was killed (in action), saving the lives of others.
2294
While transporting retired Starfleet engineer Montgomery Scott, USS Jenolen disappears en route to the Norpin V Colony.
