During the mid and late 1960's at the Desilu Productions Studios in Los Angeles, California; a production staff guided by the production's creator, Gene Roddenberry, created and produced STAR TREK; a television show that was “a wagon train to the stars”. During its' production; either by accident or by design, a history unique to the universe created by STAR TREK's production formed. Unfortunately after three seasons, the show was cancelled; ending in June, 1969.
In the early 1970's, off-network broadcast syndication saved STAR TREK from fading into history; allowing the series to not only survive, but thrive and thus keeping the in-universe history alive as well. The series' syndication allowed the show to grow in popularity. That growing popularity led to the production five additional television series (‘Animated Series’ included), five online series—three live action & two animated—and thirteen motion pictures between 1973 and the present; all of which grew, developed, and refined the in-universe history of Star Trek, allowing that history to become “The History of the Future”.
This chronology documents that “future” history between the 20th and 24th Centuries with more (possibly) being added in the future. Most of the information on the pages of this chronology is ultimately derived from the six television series and thirteen motion pictures, while using the Star Trek Encyclopedia, the Star Trek Chronology, and/or the online wiki, Memory Alpha as additional sources. It must be noted that some major, contemporary, real-world events have been included on the pages covering the 20th and 21st Centuries. ABSOLUTELY NO COPYRIGHT OR TRADEMARK INFRINGEMENT INTENDED.
