2218: First contact with the Klingon Empire. The incident is a disaster, leading to nearly a century of hostilities between the Klingons and the Federation. [This fact is trumped by the series primere of Enterprise.] 2222: Montgomery Scott is born. 2227: Leonard H. McCoy is born. 2230: Spock is born on Vulcan, son of Sarek and Amanda. 2233: James T. Kirk is born in Iowa on Earth. 2237: Hikaru Sulu is born in San Francisco on Earth. 2239: Uhura is born on Earth. 2243: Dr. Richard Daystrom invents duotronics, the basis for the computer systems used aboard the Enterprise. 2245: The first FEDERATION Starship USS Enterprise is launched. This Starfleet vessel bears the registry number of NCC-1701 and is originally classifed as a Starship class vessel, but is later changed to Constitution class. Captain Robert April commands the ship's first five-year mission of exploration. Pavel A. Chekov is born. 2249: Spock enters Starfleet Academy. 2250: Kirk enrolls in Starfleet Academy. As a cadet, he serves aboard the USS Republic. 2251: Christopher Pike assumes command of the Starship Enterprise. He heads two five-year missions of exploration into the unknown. 2252: As a Starfleet Academy cadet, Spock begins serving aboard the Enterprise under Captain Pike. 2253: Spock graduates from Starfleet Academy. 2254: Kirk graduates from Starfleet Academy, the only cadet ever to beat the infamous "no-win" Kobayashi Maru training scenario. Kirk is assigned to USS Farragut. Under the command of Christopher Pike, USS Enterprise encounters the Talosians on Talos IV. 2261: David Marcus, son of James Kirk and Carol Marcus, is born. 2264: Enterprise's commanding officer, Captain Christopher Pike is promoted to Fleet Captain while Starfleet officer James T. Kirk is promoted to Captain and is given commmand of the Enterprise. Tuvok is born. 2265: With Kirk in command, Enterprise begins its fourth and most historic five-year mission. Enterprise encounters the Galactic Barrier, resulting in the initial death of nine crewmembers and the mutation of navigator Gary Mitchell and psychiatrist Dr. E. Dehner, both later die on Delta Vega. 2266: Dr. Leonard H. McCoy replaces Mark Piper as Enterprise's chief surgeon. Lt. Hikaru Sulu
accepts a transfer from the ship's physics department to the helm. 2267: Captain Kirk is court martialed on the charge of negligent homicide but is found not guilty. Science officer Spock is promoted to Commander. Enterprise is commendered by Spock who has also kidnapped the severely injured and immobile Captain Pike. Spock is court martialled en route to Talos IV. Spock is found not guilty and Pike is beamed down to Talos IV to live out his life. Enterprise is accidentally throwing back in time following a near collision with a black hole; the ship later returns to the proper time. S.S. Botany Bay, the sleeper ship of Khan Nooien Singh, is discovered adrift near the Mutara Sector. Khan and his followers are exiled to planet Ceti Alpha V, after an attempted hijacking of the Enterprise fails. Relations with the Klingon Empire deteriorate; open warfare is averted by establishment of the Organian Peace Treaty. (TOS2) Spock returns to Vulcan to take T'Pring as his bride, but he is spurned in favor of Stonn. An automated weapon from another galaxy, dubbed the Doomsday Machine or planet-killer, is encountered by first USS Constellation then by the Enterprise. It is deactivated when the Constellation is flown in and her engines are detonated. Coridan is admitted to the Federation after the Babel Conference. 2268: (TOS2) Enterprise is outfitted with a new computer called M-5 created by Richard
Daystrom. During tests of combat conditions, the ship, under M-5's control, fires full phasers at four of its' sister
ships. Excalibur is destroyed with all hands and Lexington is heavily damaged before the computer is
disconnected. Klingon-Romulan alliance established, permitting the exchange of spacecraft designs and military
technology, including the cloaking device. 2269: (TOS3) Enterprise's crew study the Excalbians from orbit as Kirk and Spock visit the surface. [It is the webmaster's guess that "Star Trek: The Animated Series" would have taken place after the end of Season 3.] 2270: Kirk's five-year mission ends as the Enterprise returns to Spacedock. While Kirk is promoted to Admiral and Chief of Starfleet Operations, Enterprise senior officers Spock and Dr. Leonard H. McCoy retire from Starfleet. 2271: Starfleet begins a major refit project on Constitution class starships beginning with USS Enterprise. The refit of Enterprise is supervised by the ship's Chief Engineer, Commander Montgomery Scott. Demora Sulu, daughter of Enterprise helmsman Hikaru Sulu, is born. 2273: (ST1) A mysterious cloud enters Federation space through Klingon territory on course to Earth. To intercept the object Starfleet grants Admiral Kirk's request for demotion to captain and is given command of Enterprise which successfully investigates the cloud and the vessel within, learning that it was once the NASA probe Voyager 6. The ship and crew defends Earth from the V'Ger probe. Spock and McCoy return to Starfleet. After the V'Ger incident ends and undergoing "a proper shakedown", Enterprise sets forth on another five-year mission of exploration, with Kirk in command. 2278: Upon returning to Earth, Captain James T. Kirk and his crew complete another five-year mission of exploration aboard the Enterprise. The successful mission is Kirk's second while in command of the starship and Enterprise's fifth since it was commissioned. Spock is promoted to Captain, assumes command of the Enterprise, and becomes an instructor at Starfleet Academy.USS Enterprise is assigned to training duty at the Academy. 2284: Starfleet begins testing on the experimental vessel USS Excelsior which is registered as NX-2000. As part of the Transwarp Development Project, the vessel is equipped with a transwarp drive and dubbed "The Great Experiment". After having been retired for a number of years, James T. Kirk decides to return to Starfleet. He returns with the rank of Admiral and is given an instructor position at Starfleet Academy. 2285: (ST2) Khan escapes Ceti Alpha V by hijacking the Miranda class starship
USS Reliant. He also steals Project Genesis from its creators, Drs. Carol and David Marcus, at the Regula 1
science station. USS Reliant is destroyed along with the Mutara Nebula when the Genesis torpedo is detonated
aboard the ship by Khan in his attempt to destroy the Enterprise which is under the temporary command of
Admiral Kirk. Spock dies after successfully restarting the ship's warp drive, allowing the ship to escape
destruction, but not before transferring his katra (soul) to Dr. McCoy. Spock's remains are placed in a photon
torpedo casing and launched into space. The torpedo gently lands on the newly-formed Genesis Planet. 2286: (ST4) Kirk and company save Earth from an alien probe by bringing two humpback whales from the 20th Century to the 23rd Century. For disobeying direct orders, Kirk is demoted from Admiral to Captain. Starfleet launches the second Federation starship to bear the name Enterprise. The vessel is a refitted Constitution class ship, bears the registry number NCC-1701-A and is placed under Kirk's command. 2287: (ST5) Starship Enterprise-A is hijacked by Spock's half-brother, Sybok, who pursues his visions of God. The Transwarp Development Project is deemed unsuccessful by Starfleet, but believe that Excelsior has potential and decides to refit the ship with standard warp drive and re-registers the vessel as NCC-2000. 2290: Refit procedures are completed aboard USS Excelsior. Commander Hikaru Sulu, helmsman of Starship Enterprise, is promoted to Captain and assumes command of Excelsior. 2293: (ST6) Klingon moon Praxis explodes, crippling the Klingon economy, forcing the
Khitomer peace accords. Starship Enterprise-A is retired by Starfleet. The ship's senior officers also
retire. 2294: Transporting Captain Montgomery Scott (retired), USS Jenolen disappears en route to the Norpin V Colony. 2298: Tuvok resigns from Starfleet. |
