   Jerry Goldsmith would return to the Star Trek franchise to compose the eighth Star Trek film, Star Trek: First Contact, released in theaters on November 22, 1996. During the intervening seven years since the release of The Final Frontier, Mr. Goldsmith composed the scores of 29 films including: Total Recall (1990), Sleeping with the Enemy (1991), Basic Instinct (1992), Rudy (1993), The River Wild (1994), and First Knight (1995), just to name a few.
