United States Navy

“Boldness, energy, and invention in practical affairs” defines the word, thus the name, Enterprise. Ships that been named Enterprise serving in the United States Navy have embodied this definition for 250 years. When the United States Navy was established on 13 October 1775 as the Continental Navy a ship bearing this name was already in service to the American Colonies since May of the same year. Since the time of the Revolution, seven more ships have served in the United States Navy bearing the name Enterprise with construction of the ninth vessel beginning in 2018 and commissioning expected in 2030. Brief histories of each ship bearing the name Enterprise can be read by following the navigation links in the above menu. Click, read, enjoy and, of course, “Live Long and Prosper”.
